The AASCIF IT Committee held its annual meeting this year in Colorado Springs. The workshop was enjoyed by 30 participants from 13 different state funds. The day and a half conference covered informative and educational topics that were both enjoyable and timely. The topics this year ranged from “Records Retention”, “Mobile Security”, “Ease of Doing Business”, “Disaster Recovery and Business Continuance” to some new web technologies referred to as “Web Services”. Many in attendance were faced with similar challenges and found it very informative. The topics this year had great audience participation; which made for a very productive and information sharing experience. The survey results from the workshop certainly confirmed the topics and conference was a big success. As always, the networking opportunities and friends made carry on well after the conference is over.
The event got off to a great start with an evening welcome reception that overlooked the beautiful Cheyenne Mountains. The accommodations and settings were a great place to hold a conference.
Several fun activities were planned this year to showcase the Colorado Springs area. We were treated to a very enjoyable dinner at the Craftwood Inn which was a great finish to our first day. The dinner even included an optional New Zealand Venison for the more adventurous.
The conference ended with a cog wheel train ride to the summit of Pikes Peak at an elevation of 14,110 feet. This was a fun and “Breath Taking” adventure to end a very successful and fun workshop for all in attendance.
