Every state fund wants to pursue operational
excellence. Many AASCIF member organizations have implemented organizational
restructures or other new approaches to operation that aim to go beyond
functional expertise to advance overall excellence more quickly.
The National Issues Committee is expanding the scope of its work this
year to include programming around the pursuit of overall exemplary performance
in our organizations.
We can get even better program design with your feedback.
Whether your state funds operational structure is team-based or
more traditionalthat is, consists of policyholder services, claims,
auditing, safety, etc.there are undoubtedly staff within your ranks
who look across the organization and seek to develop and replicate best
practices centered around excellence. Whether formally named, such
as chief operating officer or vice president, or informally named, as
with lawyers or managers, these staff are passionate about running our
state funds from a strategic perspective. These individuals are driven
by ideas such as:
How do you develop performance measures that drive excellence and are
linked throughout the organization?
How do you develop a culture of high accountability and leadership at
every level?
How do you perform action planning around customer and employee satisfaction?
Who owns the customer relationship, and how do you focus the
entire organization on dazzling the customer?
Do you report on key factor measurements, and do you benchmark?
If these issues are of interest to you or your organization, you may be
looking for programming that helps you explore them with your peers in
other AASCIF fund organizations.
The National Issues Committee is planning to host a special session for
you during the annual AASCIF conference in August in Minneapolis. It is
also planning to include sessions on these issues in its fall workshop.
You can help develop the topics and themes for these sessions by completing
an online survey regarding operational excellence at www.zoomerang.com/survey.zgi?L223A4L452LLTPJSHQ3YXDNM
It will take about 10 minutes to complete and will be available until
May 1.
