IT and Claims committees hold workshop in Lexington, Kentucky

By Barrie Parker, CIO, Louisiana Workers' Compensation Corporation

Kentucky Employers Mutual Insurance (KEMI) in Lexington, Kentucky, hosted a two-day workshop for AASCIF members on October 25 – 27, 2006. Over 90 AASCIF members, representing 16 state funds, participated in the conference which was developed jointly by the AASCIF IT and Claims committees. Eleven vendor organizations attended and supported the workshop, which boosted the total participation to well over 100 people.

In addition to some fine presentations on timely IT and Claims topics (see attached agenda), the participants were treated to dinner and a tour of the Woodford Reserve distillery that everyone enjoyed. Also, lunch and a relaxing afternoon at Keeneland Race Track were provided for those AASCIF members who enjoy watching some fine-looking horses racing around the track.

Kim Friend, claims director at KEMI and chairperson of the AASCIF Claims committee, stated, "All of us at KEMI were very pleased to see such a large turnout, and all the preparation work was worthwhile to see everyone enjoying themselves."

Randy Garland, IT director at KEMI and member of the AASCIF IT committee, presented the post-workshop survey results to the IT committee and said, "All the committee conference calls, presentation preparations and setup work was really worth it when you read the positive comments and survey ratings received from the participants." Randy went on to say, "All of us at KEMI were proud to host this workshop, and glad that everyone seemed to enjoy the presentations, networking opportunities and planned events."

Pictures from the workshop are presented below:
